# Customer List

The Customers page is your primary working surface for moderation. It's a searchable, sortable, filterable list of every customer TrustLens has a record for, with their trust score, segment, key stats, and bulk-action controls. This page covers the full Customers list interface, what each column means, and the workflow patterns the page is designed for.

Location: **TrustLens → Customers**.

## The Columns

| Column | Description | Sortable |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Checkbox | Select for bulk actions | — |
| Customer | Segment badge, email address (or "Guest" when no email is stored), Blocked / Allowlist / Flagged badges, and whether the customer is Registered or a Guest | — |
| Score | 0–100, color-coded by segment | Yes (default sort, lowest first) |
| Orders | Counted orders (completed, or refunded) | Yes |
| Returns | Number of refunded orders | — |
| Rate | Return rate — refunded orders as a percentage of counted orders | Yes |
| Refunded | Total refund value to date | Yes |
| Actions | View button — opens the customer detail page | — |

The page header shows how many customers are tracked, a "high-risk" count that links to every customer scoring below the Caution threshold, and the **Export CSV** button. The column set is fixed — there's no Screen Options panel on this page.

---

## Filtering

The filter bar above the list supports:

- **Segment tabs** — All, or one of VIP, Trusted, Normal, Caution, Risk, Critical, each with its count
- **Score range** — custom min/max score
- **Return rate ≥** — minimum return rate in percent
- **Status** — Any status / Blocked / Allowlisted / Flagged

Click **Apply** to filter and **Clear filters** to reset. Filters combine with AND logic and stay applied when you switch segment tabs. The filter state is reflected in the URL so you can bookmark common views (e.g. "all Risk-segment customers with a return rate of 30% or more").

---

## Search

The search box matches against customer email. Search is partial — typing "smith" finds smith@example.com, alex.smith@gmail.com, johnsmith42@yahoo.com. Records without a stored email can't be found by search.

---

## Sorting

Default sort is trust score ascending — your highest-risk customers appear first. Click the Score, Orders, Rate or Refunded column header to sort by it; click again to reverse the direction. Sorting is by one column at a time.

The list shows 20 customers per page.

---

## Inline Actions

Each row has a single **View** button that opens the customer detail page. Block / Unblock, Add to allowlist / Remove from allowlist, Clear review flag and Recalculate are on the detail page, and confirm with a toast notice. To act on several customers at once, use the checkbox column — see [Bulk Actions](/docs/trustlens/customer-management/bulk-customer-actions/).

## Common Workflows

### Daily High-Risk Review

1. Click the "high-risk" count in the page header (or the Risk or Critical tab)
2. Keep the default sort — trust score ascending
3. Click through each customer's profile, review signals
4. Take action: block, allowlist, or note

### Finding a Specific Customer

1. Search by email
2. If no result, the customer may not have a TrustLens record yet — records are created when an order is placed through checkout or by Historical Sync — or their record was removed by a deletion or GDPR erasure
3. Try searching in the WooCommerce orders list directly

### Reviewing Flagged Customers

1. Set Status to **Flagged** and click Apply
2. Open each profile — the admin notes show which rule flagged them
3. Act, then click **Clear review flag** on the profile

### Building a Cohort for Export

1. Pick a segment tab and/or enter a search term
2. Click **Export CSV** in the page header
3. The file contains Email, Score, Segment, Orders, Refunds, Return Rate, Refund Value, Blocked, Allowlisted and Flagged for up to 10,000 customers

The export respects the segment tab and the search box only — the score, return-rate and status filters aren't applied to it.

---

## Performance

The Customers list is built for large customer bases:

- Trust score, segment, return rate, blocked and flagged status are indexed in the database
- Pagination is server-side
- The score column reads from the customers table directly, no live calculation
- Email search uses a contains-match, which can't use an index — expect it to be the slowest filter on very large tables

Stores with millions of customers should still load the list in under 2 seconds. If you're seeing slow loads, check for plugin conflicts (other plugins hooking into `admin_init` heavily) or hosting performance issues.

---

## Empty States

Every customer with a TrustLens record is listed, whatever their order count. If your customer list is empty:

- Historical Sync hasn't been run
- Plugin was recently activated and no new orders have been placed

Run Historical Sync to populate the list with past customer data. New customers placing orders post-activation appear automatically.

---

## The Trust Badge

The segment badge (the color-coded pill in the Customer column) appears in many TrustLens UIs:

- Customers list
- Customer detail page
- WooCommerce orders list (as a Trust column)
- Order edit page (in the Customer Trust meta box)
- Dispute Evidence Reports

Same colors throughout: green VIP / blue Trusted / gray Normal / yellow Caution / orange Risk / red Critical. Once you've trained your team on the colors, recognition is instant across the admin.

---

## Privacy

The Customers list shows email addresses and is admin-only — frontend visitors never see this data. Records without a stored email (for example one created when a card-testing email was blocked) show as "Guest." A GDPR erasure request deletes the customer's TrustLens record entirely, so erased customers drop out of the list.
