Duplicating Campaigns
2 min read
Duplicating campaigns creates an exact copy of an existing campaign that you can modify. This saves time when creating similar promotions and helps maintain consistency across your campaigns.
When to Duplicate #
Duplication is useful for:
- Recurring promotions: Copy last month’s sale for this month
- Similar campaigns: Create category-specific versions of a store-wide sale
- Testing variations: A/B test different discount amounts
- Template campaigns: Keep a “template” draft to duplicate as needed
- Historical reference: Duplicate an expired campaign to run it again
How to Duplicate #
From Campaign List #
- Go to SC Discounts → Campaigns
- Hover over the campaign you want to copy
- Click “Duplicate” in the row actions
- The Campaign Wizard opens with copied values
- Modify as needed and save
From Overview Panel #
- Click campaign name to open overview panel
- Click “Duplicate” button
- Wizard opens with copied values

The wizard opens with pre-filled values. Typical changes to make:

Original: "January Newsletter 15% Off" (expired) Action: Duplicate Changes: - Name: "February Newsletter 15% Off" - Start: Feb 1, End: Feb 3 Result: Same promotion, new dates
Category Variations #

Creating Campaign Templates #
Use duplication to create reusable templates:
Setup #
- Create a campaign with your standard settings
- Save as Draft (don’t publish)
- Name it clearly: “TEMPLATE – Weekend Sale”
Usage #
- Duplicate the template
- Update name, dates, and any specifics
- Launch when ready
- Template remains as draft for future use
Template Ideas #
- “TEMPLATE – Flash Sale” — 24-hour, high discount
- “TEMPLATE – Weekend Deal” — Friday-Sunday pattern
- “TEMPLATE – Category Clearance” — End-of-season structure
- “TEMPLATE – BOGO Promotion” — Buy one get one setup
Duplicating Recurring Campaigns #
When duplicating a recurring campaign:
- Pattern copied: Daily/weekly/monthly settings transfer
- Dates cleared: Must set new start date for pattern
- End condition copied: “After X occurrences” or end date setting
Example #
Original: Weekly weekend sale, every Saturday-Sunday, indefinite Duplicate: Same weekly pattern Changes needed: Set first occurrence start date Result: New recurring campaign with same pattern
Best Practices #
- Clear naming: Immediately update the name to avoid confusion
- Don’t forget dates: The most common mistake is not setting new dates
- Review before launch: Walk through all steps to verify settings
- Maintain templates: Keep template campaigns updated with current best practices
- Document copies: Note in description if based on another campaign
Troubleshooting #
