Step 4 Scheduling
2 min read
Step 4 of the Campaign Wizard configures when your discount campaign runs. Run it once for a set period, or put it on a schedule so it repeats on certain days, times, or dates automatically.
Quick Duration Setup: Schedule Templates #
The Quick Duration Setup card offers five one-click templates that configure the whole schedule instantly:
| Template | Schedule | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Flash Sale | Once, 24 hours | Limited-time urgent promotions |
| Weekend Special | Every Fri, Sat & Sun, all day, forever | Standing weekend promotion |
| Weekdays | Every Mon–Fri, all day, forever | Business-week promotions |
| Daily Happy Hour | Every day, 4–6 PM, forever | Daily time-window deals |
| First of the Month | The 1st of each month, all day, forever | Monthly payday promotions |
Applying a template fills in every schedule control; you can adjust anything afterwards.
Campaign Start #
Start Immediately #
Campaign becomes active as soon as you launch it.
- Perfect for urgent promotions
- Discounts appear immediately on your store
- No start date needed
Scheduled Start #
Campaign activates at a specific date and time.
- Ideal for planned promotions
- Set exact start date and time
- Campaign stays in “scheduled” status until start time
Timezone #
All dates and times use your WordPress site timezone, shown in the timezone indicator for reference.
How Should This Discount Run? #
Two cards choose the schedule type:
Once #
Runs non-stop for a set period. Configure:
- End date & time: Campaign stops at this moment
- No end date: Campaign runs permanently until manually stopped
On a Schedule #
Runs only on certain days or at certain times. Three questions appear:
| Question | Choices |
|---|---|
| Active on | Every day · Certain weekdays (Mon–Sun chips) · Days of the month (1–31 grid plus a “Last day” chip) |
| Time of day | All day · Specific hours (From/To times — overnight windows like 10 PM–2 AM are supported and get a “spans midnight” badge) |
| Keep running | Forever (genuinely never stops) · Until a date |
For full details — month-day edge cases, overnight windows, daylight saving behavior, and examples — see the Recurring Campaigns documentation.
Schedule Preview #
Below the controls, the wizard shows an honest preview computed by the same logic the discount engine uses:
- Plain-English sentence: e.g. “Active every Monday & Tuesday, all day — ongoing”
- Next run dates: the next five real dates the schedule will be active, in your store’s timezone
What the preview shows is exactly what runs — there is no separate preview model.
Built-In Guarding #
The wizard prevents impossible schedules as you build them:
- Options that could never fire within your campaign period are disabled, each with a one-line reason (e.g. a 3-day campaign can’t use “Days of the month”)
- Weekday or month-day chips that never occur inside a bounded period are greyed out
- A schedule that would never run cannot be saved
- Redundant setups get a hint — “Every day” + “All day” suggests switching to Once; all seven weekdays selected suggests “Every day”
Validation Requirements #
To proceed to Step 5:
- If scheduled: start date must be valid
- If an end date is set: it must be after the start date
- If on a schedule: at least one weekday or month day must be selected (for those modes), and time-window From/To must both be set (for Specific hours)
- The schedule must fire at least once within the campaign period
Scheduling Tips #
- Start from a template: The five templates cover the most common schedules — apply one and fine-tune
- Trust the preview: If the sentence and next dates look right, the schedule is right
- Consider timezones: Remember customers may be in different timezones
- Plan around events: Align with holidays, seasons, and shopping events
- Use “Last day” for month-end: Day 31 only fires in 31-day months
- Time of day: Consider when your customers shop most
