Smart Cycle Discounts Pro uses Freemius for license management, providing secure activation, automatic updates, and account management. This guide covers license activation, management, and troubleshooting. This applies to Smart Cycle Discounts Pro licenses only.
Purchasing a License #

Where to Purchase #

- Choose your plan
- Complete checkout
- Receive license key via email
Activating Your License #
In-Plugin Activation #
- Install and activate Smart Cycle Discounts Pro
- Go to SC Discounts → License (or see the activation prompt)
- Enter your license key
- Click “Activate”
- Confirmation message appears on success
Activation Via Freemius #
Alternatively, you can activate through the Freemius account connection:
- Click “Connect to Freemius”
- Log in with your Freemius account
- Select your license
- Activation completes automatically
After Activation #
Once activated:
- Pro features become available
- Automatic updates are enabled
- License status shows in the admin
Managing Your License #
License Status #
View license information at SC Discounts → License:

Deactivating License #
To move your license to another site:
- Go to SC Discounts → License
- Click “Deactivate License”
- License is freed for use on another site
- Plugin reverts to free features on this site
Account Portal #
Access your Freemius account to:
- View all activated sites
- Download invoices
- Update payment method
- Manage subscription
Link: Click “Manage Account” in the license screen
License Renewal #
Renewal Notifications #
You’ll receive email reminders before your license expires:
- 30 days before expiration
- 7 days before expiration
- On expiration day
Auto-Renewal #
If auto-renewal is enabled:
- License renews automatically
- No action needed
- Receipt sent via email
Manual Renewal #
- Log in to your Freemius account
- Navigate to your subscription
- Click “Renew”
- Complete payment
What Happens When License Expires #
- Pro features: Continue working until plugin update
- Updates: No longer available
- Support: No longer available
- After update: Plugin reverts to free features
Multi-Site Activation #
Activating on Multiple Sites #
Business and Agency plans allow multiple site activations:
- Install plugin on additional site
- Use the same license key
- Activate as normal
- Track activations in your account
Site Limit Reached #
If you’ve used all activations:
- Deactivate from a site you no longer need
- Or upgrade your plan for more sites
Staging/Development Sites #
Staging and development sites typically don’t count against your limit if:
- They’re identified as staging (common staging URLs)
- They use localhost
- They’re on recognized development domains
Updates #
Automatic Updates #
With an active license:
- Updates appear in WordPress Dashboard → Updates
- One-click update like any plugin
- Can enable auto-updates in WordPress

You’ll see update notifications when new versions are available in:
- WordPress admin bar
- Plugins page
- Updates page
Changelog #
View what’s new in each update:
- Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins
- Find Smart Cycle Discounts
- Click “View details”
- See changelog tab

Troubleshooting License Issues #
Activation Failed #

Clear License Cache #
If license status seems incorrect:
- Go to SC Discounts → Tools
- Click “Clear License Cache”
- License status refreshes from server
Firewall/Security Plugins #
Some security plugins may block license verification:
- Whitelist api.freemius.com
- Whitelist checkout.freemius.com
- Temporarily disable security plugin to test
Site URL Changed #
If your site URL changed (HTTP to HTTPS, domain change):
- Deactivate the old license (if possible)
- Re-activate on the new URL
- Or contact support for assistance
Upgrading Your Plan #
How to Upgrade #
- Go to SC Discounts → License
- Click “Upgrade”
- Select new plan
- Pay the prorated difference
- New limits take effect immediately
Upgrade Pricing #
You pay the difference between plans, prorated for time remaining:
Example: Current: Personal ($49/year), 6 months remaining Upgrade to: Business ($99/year) Prorated credit: $49 × 6/12 = $24.50 Business cost: $99 × 6/12 = $49.50 You pay: $49.50 - $24.50 = $25.00
