General Settings control core plugin behavior including campaign defaults, timezone handling, and basic preferences. Access these settings to customize how Smart Cycle Discounts operates on your store.
Accessing General Settings #
Navigation #
- Go to SC Discounts → Settings in the WordPress admin menu
- The “General” tab is selected by default
Settings Page Layout #
The Settings page has multiple tabs:

Campaign Defaults #
Default Campaign Priority #

| Default Priority | 1-5 (1=lowest, 5=highest) | Priority assigned to new campaigns by default |
Recommendation: Set to 3 (Medium) so you have room to adjust up or down.
Default Discount Type #

Choose based on which discount type you use most frequently.
Default Product Selection #

Date and Time Settings #
Timezone Handling #
Smart Cycle Discounts uses your WordPress timezone setting:
- Location: Settings → General → Timezone
- Used for: Campaign start/end times, scheduling, analytics
- Display: All times shown in your site timezone
Date Format #
The plugin respects WordPress date/time format settings:
- Date Format: Settings → General → Date Format
- Time Format: Settings → General → Time Format
Week Start Day #
Used for weekly analytics and recurring campaign calculations:
- Location: Settings → General → Week Starts On
- Impact: Affects “This Week” analytics, weekly recurring schedules
Admin Theme #
Theme Selection #
Choose the visual style for the plugin’s admin interface:

Color Scheme #
The plugin respects your WordPress admin color scheme (Users → Profile → Admin Color Scheme). Interface elements adapt to your chosen colors.
Currency Settings #
Using WooCommerce Currency #
Smart Cycle Discounts automatically uses your WooCommerce currency settings:
- Currency: WooCommerce → Settings → General → Currency
- Position: Currency symbol placement (left/right)
- Decimals: Number of decimal places
- Separators: Thousand and decimal separators
Multi-Currency Stores #
If using a multi-currency plugin:
- Fixed amount discounts apply in base currency
- Conversion happens at checkout based on customer’s currency
- Percentage discounts work regardless of currency
Coupon Interaction #
Allow Coupons with Discounts #

Options Explained #
- Yes: Customers can apply coupons on top of campaign discounts
- No: Campaign discounts prevent coupon use (or vice versa)
Considerations #
Allowing both may result in very deep discounts. Consider:
- Profit margin impact
- Customer expectations
- Promotional strategy
Badge Settings Location #
Badge controls are no longer managed in General Settings.
- Go to SC Discounts → Settings → Display for all global badge settings.
- Configure campaign-specific badge text/template/colors in Wizard Step 3.
Draft Behavior #
Auto-Save Drafts #

Saving Settings #
How to Save #
- Make your changes
- Click “Save Settings” at the bottom of the page
- Success notification confirms save
Settings Take Effect #
- Immediately: Most settings apply right away
- New campaigns only: Default values apply to new campaigns, not existing ones
- After cache clear: Some display settings may need cache cleared
Resetting to Defaults #
Reset Button #
Click “Reset to Defaults” to restore original settings.
What Gets Reset #
- All General Settings options
- Does NOT affect existing campaigns
- Does NOT delete any data
Confirmation Required #
You’ll be asked to confirm before resetting.
