The Detection settings tab is where you enable, disable, and tune TrustLens’s detection modules. Each module is a card with its name, a short description, an on/off toggle, and any options it has. This page covers the structure of the tab and links to per-module detail.
Location: TrustLens → Settings → Detection.
The Module Toggles #
The Detection tab shows a card for each module you toggle here, using the same names that appear in the admin UI:
| Module (UI name) | Default | Disabling Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Return Abuse Detection | On | Lose the highest-signal module — almost never recommended |
| Order Tracking | On | Lose loyalty bonuses; abuse signals still work |
| Coupon Abuse Detection | On | OK to disable on stores without coupons |
| Product Risk Intelligence | On | Returns penalties lose category and product context; OK on single-category stores |
| Shipping Address Anomalies | On | OK on single-country / digital stores |
| Linked Accounts Detection | On | Lose strongest fraud-ring detection — rarely recommended |
| Chargeback Tracking | On | Stops recording new disputes from Stripe, WooPayments, and the manual form — rarely recommended |
Two more cards appear without a toggle:
- Card-Testing Defense shows an On/Off badge and a link to its own page (TrustLens → Card-Testing Defense), where you enable it and set its thresholds. It’s on by default; turn it off only if you have a separate WAF or gateway-level card-testing protection you trust completely.
- Store Trust Network shows an On/Off badge and a link to Settings → Integrations → Store Network on multi-site Pro licenses (and a “Learn more” upsell otherwise).
Per-Module Settings #
Options sit directly on each card; there’s nothing to expand. Some modules are configured on other screens.
Return Abuse Detection #
No options on this tab. The return-rate thresholds live on Settings → Refunds:
- High risk return rate (default 40%, range 10–90%)
- Critical risk return rate (default 60%, range 20–100%)
Order Tracking #
No tunable settings — module is on/off only. Loyalty tiers and cancellation thresholds are hard-coded.
Coupon Abuse Detection #
- Max first-order coupons before flagging abuse (default 2, range 1–20) — counted across a customer and their linked accounts
- Pro: Block checkout when a linked account has used first-order coupons (default off) — refuses a first-order coupon (a code containing words such as “welcome”, “first”, or “new”, or one limited to a single use per customer) with “This coupon cannot be used…” when the shopper shares an address, phone, or payment method with an account that already used one; the shopper can still check out without the coupon
Product Risk Intelligence #
The card shows how many categories you’ve customized and a Configure product risk button to Settings → Refunds, where per-category risk is set. See Category-Aware Risk.
Shipping Address Anomalies #
- Velocity window (7–90 days, default 30) — the period for rapid-change detection
- Pro: Detect sudden behavioral shifts in address patterns (default on)
Linked Accounts Detection #
- Link penalty (0–20, default 5) — points per high-risk linked account
Accounts are linked only when they share an address, phone number, or payment method. A shared IP address or browser alone never links accounts.
Chargeback Tracking #
The card has the module toggle and an Open Chargeback Monitor button. The chargeback settings themselves are Pro and live on the Chargeback Monitor page:
- Auto-block after lost disputes (default 0 = off, range 0–20)
- Ratio alert threshold (default 70%, range 50–100%) — how close to a card network’s line a brand’s ratio turns amber and the daily email fires
- Verify dispute reports (default on)
See Chargeback Settings.
Card-Testing Defense #
Card-Testing Defense has its own dedicated page rather than settings on this tab — go to TrustLens → Card-Testing Defense to enable/disable it and tune it:
- Declines in 60s (default 3 per fingerprint, range 1–100)
- Submissions in 60s (default 10 per fingerprint, range 1–200)
- Declines in 1 hour (default 8 per fingerprint, range 1–500)
- Event retention (default 48 hours, range 24–168)
- VIP customer bypass (default on) — exempts established customers (≥ minimum orders, not Risk/Critical) from the velocity rule
- Panic Freeze duration (5, 15, or 30 minutes; 15 is the default, capped server-side at 30)
- Browser Challenge: Cloudflare Turnstile site key and secret key, on/off (default off), and who gets challenged (Suspicious checkouts only, Anyone without a purchase history, or Every checkout)
- Pro allowlists: fingerprints and IP ranges
The lockout length is not a setting: it follows a fixed ladder (90 seconds, then 15 minutes, 1 hour, and 24 hours for repeat offenders). Pro auto-escalation (3 fingerprints in 10 minutes, 15-minute freeze) and the geo-diversity safeguard (3+ countries, none above 50%) also use fixed values.
Module Status #
Each toggle card shows whether the module is on or off; the Card-Testing Defense and Store Trust Network cards show an On/Off badge. The tab doesn’t show whether a module has produced signals recently — the TrustLens Dashboard’s Detection Modules panel lists which modules are on, and each customer’s Signal impact panel shows which modules are affecting their score.
Bulk Recalculate After Settings Changes #
Changes to module settings don’t retroactively re-score customers. They take effect on the next recalculation per customer. To see the impact of a settings change immediately:
- Go to Customers list
- Select the customers on the page (or filter to a relevant cohort first)
- Bulk Action: Recalculate Score
The selected customers are recalculated straight away, one page at a time.
Restoring Module Defaults #
There is no per-module “Restore defaults” button. To undo a change, enter the default value listed on this page and save.
