Understanding the Metrics #
Revenue Attribution #
Revenue is attributed when:
- Order contains a product that was discounted by a campaign
- Order status is completed, processing, or on-hold
- Refunded orders are excluded
Conversion Definition #
A conversion counts when:
- Customer completes checkout
- Cart contained at least one discounted product
- One order = one conversion (regardless of item count)
Discount Amount #
Total discount given is calculated as:
Original Price - Discounted Price = Discount Amount Sum of all discount amounts = Total Discount Given
Using Analytics Effectively #
Identify Winners #
Sort campaigns by revenue to find your best performers. Analyze what makes them successful.
Spot Underperformers #
Low conversion campaigns may need:
- Better product selection
- Higher discount amount
- Different scheduling
Track ROI #
Compare discount given vs. revenue generated:
ROI = (Revenue - Discount Given) / Discount Given × 100% Example: Revenue: $10,000 Discount Given: $2,000 ROI: ($10,000 - $2,000) / $2,000 × 100% = 400%
Optimize Timing #
Use date comparisons to find optimal sale periods:
- Which days of week perform best?
- What duration works for flash sales?
- Is monthly or weekly cadence better?
Dashboard Refresh #
